After spending the past couple of weeks working on my installation, i’m finally at point where I feel slightly happier about it! It has changed a lot, I decided that the envelopes were not working well within the artwork and although I feel they could work as a piece on their own, I decided that developing an installation would be a more successful final outcome for the project brief. I have placed a lot more emphasis on the family pictures within the space, I wanted to get accross the strong feeling that this person wants to dissappear and that means wiping out the life they know and starting again as a runaway. I chose to have the family photos in black and white because the runaway sees everything in black and white as they prepare to leave, also the way they are loosely stuck on the walls represents the way missing persons posters are stuck up on the walls of police offices. All the photos are of my own family and my chilhood and I have erased all the images of me, this brings back the personal element of the project for me. The teenager’s diary is placed on the table and I’ve written out an extract from the NRS messageboard from a young girl planning to run away however I rubbed out all the important words. You can still trace what it says but it makes it difficult to read, most young people who run away are crying out for help but will keep their feelings hidden from those around them.

I’m not sure it’s finnished yet, there is still more I can develop and more possibilities to explore but time is running out so I’d better get a move on!!!
